    July 24, 9:00 AM - July 28, 12:00 PM @ Starr's Cave Nature Center

    Discovery Camp Ages 7-9; 9-noon, 5 days Campers explore the prairie, forest, and creek around the nature center with a focus on ecosystems, habitat, and nature discovery. They look closely at where things live and what they need to survive. They use dip nets to catch aquatic critters; learn about amazing birds and mighty mammals. They play camouflage games to discover how animals survive; discover animal trails, tracks and signs; and learn about the predators who hunt and the prey that escapes.

  5. Open Range Day

    July 29, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Big Hollow Shooting Range

    We are opening up the Big Hollow shooting ranges to the public from 1-5pm. Cost is $10 / person for the afternoon, members are still free with your active membership. Staff will be on-hand to instruct shooters. If a non-member attends 3 open range days and attends one of the remaining certification courses in 2017, you will receive a 1 year range membership at no additional cost.   6. Adventure Camp #1

    July 31, 9:00 AM - August 4, 12:00 AM @ Starr's Cave Nature Center

    Adventure Camp Ages 10-13; 9-noon, 5 days Students learn about the natural and human history of the land and acquire valuable outdoor living and safety skills. Shelters, knots, rope making, fires without matches and reading the wild are all part of this outdoor experience. Campers learn to use a bows and atlatl; they’ll improve and develop navigation, canoeing, and climbing skills. Campers will also learn to work together to accomplish goals and challenges, building confidence and trust both in themselves and in others. This camp includes one or more days at Big Hollow Recreation Area near Sperry.

    July 31, 9:00 AM - August 3, 5:00 PM @ Starr's Cave Nature Center

    Explorer Camp Ages 13-15; all day off site camp; 9-5pm; 4 days Join us as we explore Iowa’s outdoor recreation opportunities. Campers will canoe a section of the Iowa River, climb at the University of Iowa, and explore Maquoketa Caves State Park. This camp is off site, pick up times may vary depending on travel time.
