Conservation Board Member Needed

The Des Moines County Conservation Board seeks a new member to serve a five-year term that runs through from January 2018 to December 2022. The five person volunteer board is appointed by the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors and is responsible for the conservation, recreation, and education efforts of the county conservation department as outlined in Chapter 350 of the Iowa Code.

The Conservation Board meets regularly on the first Wednesday evening of every month. Other meetings, conferences, and work sessions are scheduled occasionally as needed.

Applicants must be legal tax paying residents of Des Moines County with an interest in the department’s conservation efforts. The Board of Supervisors appreciates diversity in these appointments and welcomes all applicants at least 18 years of age.

To apply, submit a letter of intent and resume of qualifications to the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors, 513 N. Main Street, Burlington, IA 52601. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM on December 12, 2017. Appointment will be made on December 19, 2017 by the Board of Supervisors during their regular meeting. The appointee will be sworn in at the January 3, 2018 Conservation Board meeting.
