DMCC Environmental Education staff will be on Big Hollow Lake once a month from June thru October. Get out on the water for some paddling fun as we explore the lake. We will see birds, fish, and fall colors.
A limited number of boats are available and space is limited. Registration for each event is required in advance.
These events are free and open to all ages. To register call Starr’s Cave Nature Center: (319) 753-5808 two weeks prior to the event.

On Tuesday, October 23, Des Moines County Conservation is hosting a Hike or Bike program through Starr’s Cave Park and Preserve.
Let’s go for a hike! Join Des Moines County Conservation’s environmental education team as we explore Starr’s Cave Park and Preserve. We will be hiking the newly constructed section of the Flint River Trail and enjoying the fall colors. Bicyclists are welcome to join us for a ride as well. We will meet at Starr’s Cave Nature Center at 5:00 P.M. for an official ribbon cutting then hit the trail for a 3 mile round trip hike. A shuttle will be available for people wanting to return after 1.5 miles.
